Construction of Kapoma Lower Basic School Building (dedicated December 23, 2011. To see the completed school, click on the Updates tab above.)
Take Heart International financed and supervised the construction of a school building with two classrooms (a “1 x 2”) for the Kapoma Lower Basic School, a school in a rural northern Zambian community near Luwingu. The Kapoma Lower Basic School serves a large community of approximately 320 students.

Construction of the school did not begin until the villagers made 45,000 adobe bricks for the building. The foundation was poured during the first week of August 2011.
Construction of a sturdy two-room school in rural northern Zambia, following government standards, cost about $24,000. All donations received through this website have been used ONLY to construct the school, enhance its learning environment, and help its children overcome barriers to succeeding in school (such as addressing health and transportation issues). Needs there are great and resources are minimal.
The school is completed, and the Ministry of Education has provided 50 new desks. However, the school still does not have books, basic supplies like pencils, notebooks, or other learning materials. Our next project will be to provide tools and seeds for a school garden so that pupils can grow vegetables to improve their basic diet and earn some money.

All contributions are appreciated, large and small; NO donations received through this website will be used for any overhead or administrative costs. All donations are tax deductible.
